QuickAdvice: Relievos Turns Any Photo Into A 3-D Image
Relievos (Free) by Hogere is a truly unusual app that feels like it’s from the future. Relievos allows you to choose parts of your photos and make them really pop out, 3-D style. You can also make other parts of your photo recess into the background.
You really have to see the app in action to understand. I’ve included some screenshots in the article, but you need to see it live to get the whole picture. It does not create 3-D pictures that come right out of your screen, but your pictures will definitely have a 3-D look.
Choose any picture from your library or take one in-app. Then simply swipe over the area you want to see in three dimensions. Swipe more times to get your object to pop out more. That’s really all you need to do to get the 3-D effect. There are various adjustments you can make if you like. Tap the icon in the bottom left corner to adjust the dimensionality -- do you want your object to pop out or recess? Tap the eraser to erase certain affected areas. Tap the undo button on the bottom right to undo the last thing you did.
Once you have it the way you want it, tilt your iPhone around so you can really see the dimension. This app uses the gyroscope to show off the full effect, but if your iDevice doesn’t have one, it will use the compass instead. The app can be used on the iPhone 3GS or later as well as the iPod touch 3rd generation or later. You must be using iOS4.
You can share your creation via Facebook or Twitter -- your friends do not need to have the app in order to see your 3-D photo.
