On Second Thought, HP's Facebook App Wasn't Created By Social Networking Site

June 28, 2011
Late yesterday a report surfaced Facebook's first tablet app would arrive on the HP TouchPad and not on the market-leading iPad. Today, Facebook is making it clear that they did not create the app, according to news first reported by TechCrunch. Following TechCrunch's original report that concluded Facebook's first official tablet app would go the HP TouchPad, the social networking site sought to clarify. They state:
Update: Facebook has reached out to clarify that “this app was not built by Facebook but by HP.” Much like RIM built the Facebook app for the Blackberry Playbook using Facebook platform. I’ve changed the headline to make it more accurate.
In other words, there is nothing to see here. When the official Facebook for iPad app is released, we will certainly let you know.
