PopBooth Brings Photo Booth-Style Photos To iOS, And To Home

June 16, 2011
The folks behind the popular Postagram app for iPhone are set to debut a new one for the iPhone and iPad 2. PopBooth allows users to take booth-style photos and then receive physical copies of them through the mail. The new app and service will debut by the end of June, according to Gigaom. Created by Sincerely, Inc., PopBooth works like a traditional photo booth but uses an iDevice. To work, users stand in front of the iPhone or iPad 2’s self-facing camera, press a shutter button, and pose for a series of four concurrent photos. Users will also be able to use a number of different filters “such as black and white or jewel-toned overlays.” In addition, photo strips can be shared via Facebook and Twitter. This isn’t the first photo booth-style app to arrive into the App Store. However, we believe it is the first to provide a service whereas photos can be printed and sent to customers via mail. According to Gigaom:
PopBooth will be available for one-off use or in “party mode,” which will allow a user to purchase a package of a certain number of prints. I could definitely see folks setting up an iPad at a wedding or party and using PopBooth strips as a fun gift for guests — a much less expensive alternative to the increasingly popular rented photo booth.
We’ll let you know when PopBooth is released and what the cost of mailing photos will be. In the meantime, we suggest trying out Pocketbooth HD and IncrediBooth, two photo booth-style apps already available. What do you think? Leave your comments below.
