Alarm Clock Rio (Free) by ITG Studios is a new alarm clock app for the iPhone. This app has the usual features: LCD display that comes in multiple colors, landscape or portrait mode for easy viewing, and slide to dim or brighten the display. It also has a few extras that make it even more useful.

Personally, I prefer a nice LCD display for my alarm clock. However, because every single alarm clock app out there has this, you may be more inclined to use the flip clock instead. Whichever one you choose, you'll still have a beautiful display to wake up to every morning.

The app auto-detects your location, so that the current weather is displayed for you at all times. The weather conditions and temperature are already there, ready for you to view when you wake up.

You can set up multiple alarms with different names, sounds, and an optional fade-in feature when waking up to your own iPod music. You will receive alarm notifications even without the app running (iOS 4+ only). I gave it two nights to test the alarm feature, and I assure you it works flawlessly. Waking up to "Epic" by Faith No More was a great way to start the day.

Along with the in-app alarm features, you have the ability to leave your main alarms in the native clock app on or off. You can also shake the phone to toggle the flashlight, or turn off the option, if you'd rather run into furniture when you get up to go to the bathroom in the middle of the night.

This app is free for a limited time, so definitely get it while you can. Great features, beautiful interface, and it even works well. If you're looking for an elegant, simple, and effective alarm clock for your iPhone at a good price this is it.
