Apple Working On Panoramic Photo Capabilities In iOS 5

July 14, 2011
Apple’s iOS Camera app could soon include panoramic photo-taking capabilities, according to Seth Weintraub at 9 To 5 Mac who recently uncovered some new code stating as such in iOS 5. If correct, this could present a potential problem with app developers who already provide this service. The latest iOS 5 beta 3 includes text that suggests Apple will soon compete against other iOS developers who provide panoramic photo-taking apps. The code, which we’ve included here, mentions text such as “Capture Panorama from left to right,” and “Keep the arrow on the center line.” Although the current iOS 5 beta does not actually include any sort of active panorama feature, perhaps this will come in a future iOS beta release. Among the current panorama app offerings include Microsoft’s Photosynth, 360 Panorama, and Panorama, among others. What do you think? Leave your comments below.
