Blobster Offers Some Finger Flicking Fun On The iPhone

July 14, 2011
Chillingo has just released an iPhone platformer called Blobster. The game offers physics-based platforming action where you control the critter by flicking him with your finger. If you played To-Fu: The Trials of Chi, you will see a lot of similarities between that game and Blobster. You fling the main character in both games by dragging or swiping back enabling it to fly. Blobster also offers various power-ups to collect that give special abilities like being able to float through the air or rocket high into the sky. The visuals look very colorful and well detailed. There are various landscapes and obstacles present. Backgrounds range from tropical palm trees to icy mountains. In terms of presentation, the art style borrows a lot from titles like Sony's LocoRoco. The design of many of the traps, obstacles, and platforming challenges is very clever as well. There is a nice variety of these obstacles and level layouts, from pitfalls to water hazards. The title offers a total of 40 levels to play through. Blobster is currently available on the App Store for iPhone and costs $.99.
