Solar-Powered iDevices?

Solar-Powered iDevices?

July 27, 2011
With iOS 5, we’ll soon be able to sync our iDevices without hooking them up to our PC or Mac. Now, imagine an iPhone that never needs charged using an electrical cord. That could someday become reality, according to the Digitimes. According to today’s report, Apple and Samsung are actively working on bringing solar cells to future iDevices. As such:
Samsung and Apple have been evaluating the possible niche market for solar-powered consumer products and considering the inclusion of Taiwan-based solar firms in their respective supply chains. However, according to Taiwan-based solar firms, these niche markets will need a longer time to develop.
As MacRumors reminds us, Apple has long been interested in solar power and even patented a process whereas solar cells were placed underneath a mobile device’s screen. Therefore, today’s news is probably very accurate. Still, don’t expect to see solar-powered iDevices anytime soon. Perhaps they will come with the iPhone 7 or iPad 5. What do you think?
