Apple Now Allowing Devs To Move From MobileMe To iCloud

August 7, 2011
If you were worried that Apple wouldn't let you properly transfer your MobileMe data to iCloud when the time comes, you can now rest assured that they will. Last night, Apple flipped the switch on its iCloud migration tool, and reportedly, it works as advertised. Discovered b Mark Gurman and located at me.com/move, Apple's new online migration tool allows developers to convert their MobileMe account into an iCloud account, and see all their data and services transfered. Whether it's your contacts, calendar or email, it should all be available from iCloud.com once you go through the process. This is great news, as the tool is simple to use and perfect for the task. Also, it's a big improvement over the hack Apple had pushed so far to transfer your data over. In a nutshell, the only way to transfer your data so far consisted of syncing your MobileMe account to an iDevice, deleting the account from the device while preserving the data, and then merging it into iCloud. Just in case you are tempted to try it, note that the tool is smart enough to only allow registered developers to migrate for now.
