AT&T VP: iPhone 5 Releasing In Early October

August 19, 2011
We're heard a lot of shifting rumors on when the next-generation iPhone will arrive. Now, BGR is reporting that a AT&T vice president has told key executives the iPhone 5 will launch in early October. According to the source, the VP communicated the following to a group of managers:
“Expect things to get really, really busy in the next 35-50 days, so prepare your teams accordingly.”
This news is probably close to the mark. There are few with sources better than BGR, so consider this something close to an official announcement. Most likely, Apple will announce the iPhone 5 late next month, and then release it in the U.S. early in October. From there, it should hit the rest of the world a few weeks later.
