Galaxy survivor ($1.99) by Bisimplex is an iPad-only arcade game that is full of fast paced action. Set in outer space, you must fight off, outmaneuver, and kill the enemy at every turn. There is not a moment to lose in this shooting frenzy.

There are 50 different levels, each one getting increasingly difficult as you play. Your ship is the last survivor of your fleet and you are trapped in enemy territory. You must destroy command centers, avoid kamikaze ships and kill enemy hunter ships. You start with 120 seconds to get through each level. As you kill the enemy, you gain seconds, but as you are hit by the enemy, you lose time. Your time does not start over with each level, so you must work to maintain your seconds. If you run out of time, you lose. Luckily, you can start on the level you last played.

The controls are virtual joysticks. The weapon control was confusing at first, but after a few minutes, I realized that you must position the weapon controller in the direction you want to fire. Once I got the hang of it, I was blasting enemy ships off the map. In the settings menu, you can change the location of your controls and swap sides with weapons and movement.

Overall, this game is fun and exciting. The graphics are nice and the gameplay is smooth. You can download this game, for the iPad only, from the App Store for $1.99, a great deal for a great game.
