Leaked Images Of iPhone 5 Battery, Rear Camera And Audio Flex Cable Show Insight
August 22, 2011
New photos of iPhone 5 parts are beginning to leak out from Apple suppliers. So far, the images are giving little indication of what changes may be in store for the highly anticipated new iPhone that is set to launch this fall.
MacRumors has now made two reports from different sources on these leaks, and both are consistent with one another. It also appears that TVC-Mall is selling these parts on their website. The images from the iPhone 4 parts that are used to compare with the iPhone 5 leaks were supplied by iFixit.
The changes seem somewhat superficial, but they are different from the current iPhone 4. The power specifications and shape of the batteries are very similar. However, the iPhone 5 connector has been rotated.
One of the images (the first image in this post) shows the battery looking like a different shape and then MacRumors cleared that up by adding an additional photo. The first photo must have been taken at a strange angle, or they wanted readers to imagine a different shaped phone was on the horizon.
The flash appears to be closely embedded next to the camera lens, which is similar to the iPhone 4. This may shoot down the rumor of the new iPhone having a dual LED flash. However, we still are not sure if it will be an 8 megapixel camera versus the iPhone 4’s 5 megapixel camera.
The headphone audio flex cable looks different, however, it is unclear what this may mean. The source for the comparable iPhone 4 parts at iFixit stated the markings on these were similar to the currently shipping cables.
All in all, these are not the most conclusive leaks, but as we see more of them, we can hopefully piece together the mystery of the next generation iPhone. Keep watching AppAdvice for more information!
