Leaked Best Buy Documents Give Indication Of Next iPhone Release

September 4, 2011
A couple of interesting leaked documents just came out, and they bring us closer to a possible iPhone 5 release date, thanks to tipsters from Best Buy. Upcoming calendar event information for Best Buy managers was provided to the website, This Is My Next and a Best Buy promotional activity document was given to Boy Genius Report (BGR). On Friday, October 21, 2011 at 6:00 a.m., there is a scheduled Apple display setup, which appears to be out of the ordinary according to this tipster. Generally, managers show up at 7:00 a.m. for inventory. This early call and display setup is similar to what happened at Best Buy when Apple released the iPhone 4.

There also seems to be a meeting for Best Buy Mobile managers on October 10, 2011, which should reveal more of the details about the latest Apple release. Hopefully, Apple will have made some type of announcement by then about the iPhone 5 and we will all have more information. BGR is reporting another person provided them with a promotional activity document for the coming weeks. This shows preorders for the iPhone 5 during the first week of October and possible proof that Sprint will be carrying it. The source for BGR also thought it was possible presales will be starting this week, with the release in the first part of October.

Taking presales this week seems a little too soon without an Apple announcement, but waiting until late October seems a bit late. If the promotional document is correct and presales will begin in October, then the later October display setup may not be far-fetched. Again, these are all rumors, so we can't say how accurate they are. You will notice that even Best Buy put in their promotional document "Apple product introduction/Launch dates subject to change." October 2011 is also the 10-year anniversary of the iPod, which is another detail to keep in mind as we consider Apple’s next move.
