Bloomberg: Sprint To Get The iPhone 5 Next Month
September 9, 2011
If you believe Bloomberg this morning, it's a done deal; Sprint will be getting the iPhone 5 in October.
Of course, this is not the first time we're hearing this. Rumors of the iPhone 5 coming to Sprint have been getting more and more serious this year. There have been reports from sources at The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, and even a demand from Sprint itself to its employees not to comment about the potential arrival of the device.
Bloomberg's source are pointing to a mid-October release, and interestingly, Sprint will supposedly be offering an unlimited data plan for the device. This last bit of info will make this an attractive offer compared to AT&T and Verizon who both gave up on unlimited plans a while ago.
Without a doubt, this is great news as the iPhone can always use more presence in the US, and hopefully it will pressure the other carriers to finally reduce the prices of their incredibly expensive plans. Not to mention, it might actually rescue Sprint from its many financial difficulties.
Is this a done deal? It certainly looks that way. Sprint uses the same wireless technology as Verizon, so this is just a matter of Apple signing a contract with Sprint, as neither Verizon nor AT&T have an exclusivity deal anymore. We can't wait.
