Keep The Flame Alive In Arch Fiery

Arch Fiery ($0.99) by Photics is an arcade game for the iPhone that utilizes both tilt and touch controls. The graphics and music really pull the game together as you lead the little flame through many levels and environments.

To play, just tilt your iDevice to move while tapping the screen to jump when needed. I found the flame to be pretty difficult to control. Although the controls are accurate, it definitely takes some finesse to maneuver around obstacles and onto platforms. It's quite challenging, which is most of its charm, however, it's very difficult to master.

Collect power-ups along the way to make your flame grow. However, each time you hit an obstacle — whether it be a bomb or a flame — your flame becomes smaller until it eventually dies out. Once it dies out, you are sent back to the beginning of the level. This is especially distressing when you've actually reached the goal at the end of a level, but couldn't see where you were landing, so you ended up in a pit. And died. And had to start all over. Bitter? Me? Nah (yes).

You can bounce off of objects like walls and platforms, however, you cannot jump again until you hit the ground. Also, objects like bombs will explode when you hit them, sending you flying in random directions.

There isn't a time limit in this game. You just need to make it to the goal at the end of each level. The goal is represented by two pillars surrounding a black and white finish line. You must get your flame in between these pillars to complete the level and view your score.

Once you complete a level, you can move on to the next. There are currently two worlds in which you can play, but you always must complete the levels in order in each one.
