Well, what do you know? It looks like some Android developers are trying to take our favorite personal assistant and claim her as their own. Some new apps are popping up in the Android Marketplace claiming to be official Siri apps. So, what's the deal?
There’s a new app in the Android Marketplace that boasts it’s the “REAL Siri for Android.” Speerit is currently only available in Korean, but I’m sure the developers will ensure it supports English soon. The description states, “We have a plan to support english (sic) later. Don’t be sad.” How can you be sad now, right?
You can find Speerit in the Android Marketplace for free. Siri for Android is the other Siri app available for Android phones. This one claims to be the “Official Siri for Android” app. We’re pretty sure Apple isn’t kosher with this. This app is actually just a Siri icon that opens the Google Voice Actions app. It’s just an app that ports to a function that Android phones already have.
You can find Siri for Android in the Android Marketplace for free. These apps seem to function satisfactorily, but we’re certain that as soon as Apple sees these apps claiming to be the real deal or “official” — which I’m sure they already have — they will be terminated as quickly as possible. So, if you use an Android device — Bueller? — head over to the Android Marketplace now to snag these apps before they’re gone. Or, you know, you could always just get an iPhone 4S instead.
