Battle Squadron Gets Two Player Split Screen Action
Battle Squadron ONE 2-player ($2.99) by Cope-Com is the iPad version of the iOS version of the classic Sega Genesis game, Battle Squadron. Play split screen arcade action with friends in this fast paced shoot ‘em up game.
Ah, the classics. Who doesn’t love a pixelated auto-shooting adventure? This game will bring back memories of Madonna videos, pleated pants and getting home from school in time for the afternoon cartoons. All the things we did as kids before we sat down to a long night of Battle Squadron.
This version for iOS is a port of the original Sega Genesis game with a split screen option for two players. For those who have never played, Battle Squadron puts players in the cockpit of a fully loaded spaceship with the mission of rescuing two missing pilots that are presumed to have been kidnapped by vicious enemy aliens.
The ship shoots its front weapons automatically and the player moves in front of the target to destroy it. There are special weapons that will spray an annihilating barrage of fireballs called Nova Smart Bombs.
The movement action is vertical scrolling. Players move their ship side to side by touching and dragging across the screen in the direction they wish to go. There are virtual buttons on each side of the screen for deploying special weapons.
The split screen adaption of this game is a fabulous addition to the Battle Squadron series. Instead of fighting over who gets to try to save the day next, friends can begrudgingly battle together against the forces of evil. Controls can even be configured individually for each player's comfort.
Overall, this special iPad version of Battle Squadron One for two players is a great way to entertain friends when they come over after school and want to bogart your tablet. Pick it up in the App Store for only $2.99. Friend not included.
