Today, TomTom previewed the upcoming version (1.10) of their navigation app for iPhone and iPad at CES. The new release will feature social network navigation for Twitter and Facebook so that users can find and travel to their friends much more easily than ever before.
This will be the first turn-by-turn navigation app to work with social networking to pinpoint the locations of events, places and friends. It will also allow users to share their destination and arrival time on Facebook and Twitter.
Since many Facebook users access the website from their iPhone, it seems logical that TomTom would add social network to their navigation. Flurry Analytics recently posted a report showing that mobile device users spend a third of their time on Facebook. “By integrating Facebook features into our TomTom App we make navigating to places, events and seeing friends even easier,” stated Corinne Vigreux, TomTom’s managing director.
Version 1.10 will be included as a free update to existing customers. The TomTom navigation app for iPhone and iPad is available for a variety of countries at prices ranging from $39.99 to $99.99.
