The game unfolds as space pirate Annha sets off on a galactic adventure, pillaging planets and collecting booty. The goal of the game is to align as many planets in a row as possible to maximize the chain reaction in as few moves as possible.
The grid is set up with 64 tiles filled with rotating planets, suns, comets and more. Tiles can be swapped anywhere on the board, but each swap costs one gold doubloon. Too many swaps and the game is over. The more gold collected, the better. Not only does it help keep the game going, but those shiny little coins can be used to purchase refills of bonus weapons that are earned during the game.
Bonus weapons are earned when players successfully complete a special challenge. There are 18 challenge stages and six different weapons. The weapons include such features as removing all tiles in a cross pattern on the grid, or destroying all tiles of a specific color at once. There is even a bonus that will temporarily freeze time.
One problem with playing this game on the smaller iPhone/iPod touch screen is that the touch is hyper sensitive and players will find themselves swapping tiles they didn’t mean to, costing a precious doubloon for nothing. It is probably not as much of an issue on the iPad, but the tiny tiles on the smaller screen make it difficult to highlight the correct choice.
Overall, this universal match three game is a unique twist on the traditional genre. The colors are fantastic. The game is fun and interesting with plenty of added features. It is priced just right at $1.99. Pick it up in the App Store today.
