There are plenty of photo editing apps available in the App Store, but GroupShot by Macadamia Apps stands above the rest.

Don’t you hate it when you’re trying to take that perfect group shot, and inevitably, one person sticks out from the others? Maybe he or she looked away at the wrong moment, or blinked, or stuck his or her tongue out because they were tired of you trying to get that perfect picture.

Fear not shutterbugs, because now you can easily swap out the undesired facial expression for a better one.

To use GroupShot, select a batch of pictures that were all taken at the same time. You can choose from your iPhone’s Camera Roll, or even Photo Stream. Next, you select the picture you’d like to modify and draw over it. Yellow highlighter will show over the area you selected. Then the app’s magic kicks in.

Using algorithms that consider the elements of the selected photos, the app will find a replacement element from the batch of pictures and copy the perfect section to place over the highlighted area. Someone has their head turned in one picture, but not the other? GroupShot can fix that. It can even replace the whole person with a better shot of them.

GroupShot is just the first of several apps that Macademia Apps has in mind. They are also looking into Android apps. Who knows what they might think of next? Meanwhile, this gem can be downloaded for $0.99 in the App Store.
