Magisto Creates Cool Home Movies With A Click
Magisto (Free) by SightEra Technologies Ltd takes your collection of film clips and turns them into a polished project automatically. Simply choose the clips, pick a song, and Magisto does all the heavy lifting.
The first thing you’ll need to do when you start the app is create an account. Once you’ve done that, you can start shooting or uploading your film clips. You’ll need at least ten seconds of video, and Magisto actually recommends you have at least 45 seconds’ worth. Next, choose your music. I was pleasantly surprised by the selection of music. You could use the music from your own iPod, but you can also choose from Magisto’s library, which includes dozens of songs presented in seven different categories: Birthday, Love, Kids, Travel, Rock & Pop, Hip Hop, and Dance & Electro.
Once you pick a song, you’ll be brought to a Summary page. Enter your movie title, and tap “Make My Movie!”. Processing does take a few minutes or more, but you can go ahead and close the app and go do something else, because nothing further is required on your part. When it’s done, it will show up in the app, and also on Magisto’s website. From there you can share your completed project via email, Facebook, Twitter, or YouTube.
It claims to pick the best parts of your movies to create one great film. I don’t know how Magisto “knows” which parts of your movies are the best, but it did take four boring film clips of my dog and turn them into a fun, polished half-minute movie. It is completely idiot-proof and the results are just fun! I realize my video content isn’t great; I just wanted to give you an idea of what the app does. Imagine doing this with your OWN awesome movies! Rather than boring everyone on your social networks with long minutes of home movies, create a tight, professional, and very shareable little movie!
Magisto is currently free, and if you’ve ever shot video on your iPhone or iPod touch, you owe it to yourself (and your friends) to check it out!
