Apple's 2011 iDevice Sales Surpassed Total Number Of All Macs Ever Sold

Statistics agency Asymco has published another telling chart plotting the massive ascent of iEra Apple. Site founder Horace Dediu was prompted to conduct the research by this telling tidbit from Tim Cook's recent Wall Street Journal interview:
This 55 [million iPads sold] is something no one would have guessed. Including us. To put it in context, it took us 22 years to sell 55 million Macs. It took us about 5 years to sell 22 million iPods, and it took us about 3 years to sell that many iPhones. And so, this thing is, as you said, it’s on a trajectory that’s off the charts.
Impressive as that sounds, however, it doesn't even begin to tell the whole iOS story. Fortunately, this graph does: But there's more: If you add up all of Apple's iDevice sales from last year alone, the 156 million units moved outpace the cumulative total of all 122 million Macs ever sold! At this rate, it won't be too long before iOS overtakes Windows...
