Paint The Town Dead In Agopia's Zombie Mayhem
Agopia's Zombie Mayhem (Free) by Agopia has you going from town to town in the old west, infecting any townsperson you come upon. In most games, you're trying to get rid of the zombies, but the tables are turned this time around. Zombify the townspeople by strategically firing cursed items at them.
The zombie recruits will then try to satisfy his or her newly-acquired bloodlust on another townsperson.
In this Angry Birds style launching game, you'll fire poisoned apples and assorted zombie parts to get the job done. Unlike Angry Birds, though, the strategy is more in how you can infect one person and have them follow a clear path toward the next person.
Instead of a pinch to zoom function, there is a thematic wagon wheel in the top left corner. Turning the wheel will either zoom in or out. The wheel can also be used to scroll from side to side. Unfortunately, this does make it a little cumbersome to get a lay of the land when lining up a shot in a wide level.
I must say that the first thing that stood out for me was how sensitive this game aiming is. A slender red line will appear when pulling back on the launching zomhie, instead of chunky white dots to show your projectile's potential path.
The line extends the further you pull back, shortens if you ease up, and will point in what appears to be half of an arc.
But using the path to determine where your projectile lands is actually more of a guessing game. I found that it's actually easier to cut back on the distance to fire where you'd like to hit. It may take you a missed shot or two until you can dial in on where you actually need to shoot.
The other main annoyance would be the app crashing every time I beat a level. Force quitting and restarting didn't help, either. With any luck, the developer will fix this with an update.
For those interested in zombie games, you may want to give this one a look, especially since it combines some Angry Birds mechanics in its gameplay. Though some patience may be required to put up with the crashing.
