Something Wicked This Way Comes In Frog Storm
Frog Storm ($0.99) by ElectricCandy tasks you with keeping the Firefly Queen safe from pesky, neon frogs. The frogs will advance toward the bottom of the screen, where the queen resides. In order to stop them from reaching her, you’ll just need to swipe the frogs away.
They will bounce off the walls until they’re burst into a puff of particles.
But it’s a little harder than that because tiny, bioluminescent “power-bugs” are trying to travel the same path to reach the queen.
If the bugs do reach the bottom of the screen, they will add to the constantly depleting health meter.
It’s game over once the health meter reaches zero, so not getting the bugs trapped in froggy crossfire would be a good idea.
One thing I noticed was that bouncing the frogs horizontally did a good job of clearing any frogs that came near it, as well as providing a window for the power-bugs.
Crafty players will swipe the frogs into the other frogs in order to eliminate multiple threats and score more points.
The frogs fall at different rates, the orange ones slow and the blue ones fast. The power-bugs will fall at different rates as well, so it’s a good idea to become familiar with the timing on them.
The first thing you can’t help but notice about this game is its blacklight-like theme. The bulbous frog eyes seem even more menacing against the dark backdrop.
When the frogs die, they burst into a cloud of neon particles, which can get distracting. Overall, I think the graphics definitely work well for this game.
Game Center support is offered to see how you do against others in the leaderboard, though there are no achievements to be had.
This is definitely a cool game that is as much a feast for the eyes as it is addictive. Hop on over to the App Store and download it now.
