Pride and Prejudice: Hidden Anthologies ($5.99) is a new hidden object game by Europress. If you are a Jane Austen fan, or just like a good hidden object game, you are going to be amazed at the depth and complexity of the images on screen. AppAdvice and EuroPress have joined together to give away three copies to our lucky readers and all you have to do is leave a comment below.
The app can be played in campaign mode as the novel, or with individual puzzles called “pastimes.” Players will be tracking down missing teacups and helping Lizzy get dressed, all while experiencing the story of Pride and Prejudice.
There are a lot more puzzles involved than just hidden object games. There are jigsaw puzzles, spot-the-difference games and much more. Each chapter in the novel is told through various hidden object games. For example, Lizzy needs to get ready for the ball, but she can’t find her dress or her shoes. Once found, her dress is torn and she needs thread to fix it. Players must find hidden objects to help move the story along. You must find the key to unlock the bureau and find the dress, then find Lydia’s ragdoll to use the thread to fix the dress.
The graphics are highly defined and have layered depth. Many objects are hidden in the shadows and are so hard to find that, when you ask for a clue you could kick yourself for not noticing it before.
I’ve never been even remotely interested in reading anything by Jane Austen, yet I found this game to be entertaining and challenging. The fact that there are a variety of puzzle types makes it all the more interesting. If someone like me can have a great time playing Pride and Prejudice: Hidden Anthologies, then someone who actually enjoys Jane Austen’s work will flip. The $5.99 price tag is a bit steep. However it is completely in-line with the cost of other apps in this genre.
