Jump Games, Inc., a division of Reliance Entertainment, announced the launch of Electric City for the iPhone/iPod touch. The free app is being released through a partnership with Tom Hanks’ Playtone, which launches “Electric City,” a 90-minute, 20-episode animated Web series on Yahoo! Screen.

The app features series episodes, digital comic books that expand on the series’ mythology, behind-the-scenes sneak peeks from its development, and other content.

According to Playtone partner Gary Goetzman:

We always knew that “Electric City” was a big, multi-dimensional story, and that it made sense to present it in a non-traditional way. We felt that games and mobile content would be a great way to explore backstory and push the parameters of our world.
