Spirit Walkers: Curse of the Cypress Witch by G5 Entertainment icon

Spirit Walkers: Curse of the Cypress Witch (Free) by G5 Entertainment is an adventure puzzle game that’s both engrossing and engaging, thanks to an intriguing storyline and some unique gameplay elements.

I play a new hidden object style game fro G5 almost every week, and they can be hit or miss. Spirit Walkers is definitely a hit because it’s challenging and because it has a great plot.

In this game, Maylynn and her group of friends have been inspired to go on an investigative trip by the legend of a hiker-attacking ghost. She and her friends are lost in the forest when one of them is seriously injured, and to survive, the group must travel between time and dimensions to fight an ancient evil.

Gameplay wise, that translates into solving a series of puzzles to progress through the storyline, looking for important plot elements in the environment and using them to complete challenges.

For example, one of the first things you will need to do is find the objects needed to traverse a broken bridge, which you do by exploring different areas such as a car and a campsite.

This game does incorporate hidden object scenes, but it’s done in a subtle way. You’ll be presented with visual outlines of items that will be helpful to you, and you must find each one in an area. Some of them will go into your inventory, and those items are what you will use to interact with the environment and solve puzzles.

It’s cleverly done, and I enjoyed the deviation from a standard hidden object game. This is really more of a puzzle game than a hidden object game, which was a nice change.

Spirit Walkers is suitably challenging. You’ll always know what your task is, and you can always check the journal, but sometimes finding the right object combinations can be tricky. If you have a hard time, there’s an hint system in place that will help you figure out the next move.

In all, this game has 32 different locations, each of which is gorgeously designed. It has great graphics, and 20 different mini puzzle games to solve. There’s also Game Center support, complete with achievements.

If you like puzzle solving and enjoy hidden object games with an adventurous flare, I’d recommend Spirit Walkers. While it is a bit short, it’s thoroughly enjoyable, and achievements encourage you to play again and again.

Though this game is listed as free, it will cost you $6.99 to unlock the iPad version and $4.99 to unlock the iPhone version.
