Handmade Highlights: Gifts You Shouldn't Give This Holiday Season

Last time on Handmade Highlights I featured some minimalistic sleeves for Apple’s newest tablet, the iPad mini. I plan to revisit iPad mini cases because there are so many great options available, but this week, I wanted to do something a bit different.
Twice a month I share my favorite handmade cases and accessories for the iPhone and the iPad, but it’s not all sunshine and roses over at Etsy. To find the best stuff I have to sort through hundreds of products, and I come across some interesting items, to put it kindly.
For example, check out this iPhone 5 case, which is literally crusted with fake candy. This case is a bit cluttered for my taste, but I guess you can use it to play I Spy! I see a macaron, a gummy bear, a strawberry, and a donut. What do you see?
Or this one, which is dripping with bling. I wouldn’t buy this case, just because I’d be answering “Are those real diamonds?!” all day long. Who has time for that?
Want to keep your iPhone safe from thieves? I bet this case would do the trick. No one’s going to mess with the badass sporting all those skulls.
What’s better than skulls? SPIKES. Those suckers must be an inch and a half long. Nothing says cool like a phone you can't pick up.
If you’re one of those people who thought the iPhone 5 was just too small, too thin, and too portable, this is the case for you. I challenge you to find a case that offers a better grip than an entire plush cat.
You can even get one of these cases with a My Little Pony attached. And that’s not all - it’s a My Little Pony COVERED in crystals. That’s a steal for $49, let me tell you.
Of course, bling isn’t all bad. This owl case, which comes in some nice, muted colors is actually kind of cool. Plus, you can never go wrong with birds.
