Fanhattan is an impressive movie and TV discovery app that first arrived on the scene for iPad in 2011. The brand moved to the iPhone a year later. Beginning this week, Fanhattan is also available via the Web.
Available through a special beta, Fanhattan Online features a photo-based interface that takes full advantage of a browser’s screen. From here, users are able to find more information about a movie, TV show, or person.
They can also select content by clicking on a rolling taskbar that sits at the bottom of the screen. Titles here are organized by Hottest Movies, Trending Shows, and Friend Activity.
One of the best features of Fanhattan for iOS has been carried over to the Web. With one click, users can find where content is available for streaming and/or disk purchase, and when applicable, links to that content.
All of the usual suspects are here including Netflix, Amazon Prime, HBO Go, and many more.
Better still, users can control which content providers Fanhattan should show.
For example, non-Xfinity customers have no reason to see content that is available there. As a result, users can turn this off via settings.
Fanhattan Online is also integrated with Fandango so users always know where a current movie is playing. Rotten Tomatoes, and Metacritic ratings are also listed.
At first glance, Fanhattan Online looks promising, and a nice extension to the company’s iOS offerings. The beta is currently being opened to select Fanhattan users via email. It should go live for everyone else later this year.
AppAdvice readers can now get in the Fanhattan Online beta. To do so, visit this site and enter the activation code “APPADVICE.” Current Fanhattan users should login using their existing credentials. New users will have to register on the same page.
Hurry, as the code only works for the first 1,000 respondents.
