It's Alive! Tamagotchi Is Reborn Via Upcoming iOS App

February 8, 2013
Those of a certain age probably remember Tamagotchi, the small plastic toy on a keychain that contained a virtual pet that needed to be nurtured, or else. Tamagotchi is coming back, this time as an app for the iPhone/iPod touch, according to The Telegraph. Original launched in Japan in 1996, 78 million Tamagotchi units were eventually sold worldwide. It required users to look after a virtual pet at regular intervals. If this didn’t happen, the pet would die. Tamagotchi L.i.f.e. will be similar to the original game. It will also include more advanced options and related mini games. L.i.f.e. stands for “love is fun everywhere,” according to a message on the Bandai blog. According to a spokeman:
The original Tamagotchi was first released 16 years ago and took the world by storm. Everyone had a Tamagotchi and loved taking care of their digital pets. The new Tamagotchi app will feature the same gameplay you know and love with a number of exciting new features.
Tamagotchi L.i.f.e. will be available “soon” in the App Store and through Google Play. We'll let you know when the game is released. See also: If You Had A Tamagotchi, You’ll Love Hatchi. Source: The Telegraph
