Cydia Tweak: Mappr Gives Spotlight Search An Unusual Feature

June 27, 2013
If you’re not a fan of Spotlight search in iOS, there’s a new Cydia tweak that you may want to check out. Mappr gives Spotlight search a new lease on life by turning it into a map. That’s right, you can have a standard, satellite, or hybrid map right in Spotlight search. It’s important to note that Mappr completely removes Spotlight’s ability to perform searches on your device, but if you never use it, this tweak is worth a look. Within the Settings app, you’ll find options to switch between the three different map modes mentioned above. There’s also an option to have Mappr follow your location making it very simple to find out where you are at any given time. Though, I’m sure this feature will impact your device’s battery life. You can also use Mappr just like the iOS Maps app with similar features like pinch to zoom and panning around by dragging your finger. Mappr can be a little buggy at times. You may find that the keyboard will pop up while using the tweak, but a quick swipe back to the home screen will fix that. Also, if you're panning around close to the right edge of the screen you may accidentally swipe back to the home screen. Aside from those small problems, Mappr performs exactly as you'd expect. It puts a map in Spotlight search. This tweak may not be for everyone, but if you’ve ever desired the ability to have quick access to a map in iOS, Mappr may be the solution. Currently, Mappr is available in the BigBoss repository for $0.99. [gallery link="file" columns="2"]
