The App Store Is Experiencing Problems With Subcategory Listings

December 5, 2013
It has been brought to our attention that there is a bug in Apple’s App Store. The issue occurs when entering a subcategory, such as those under Games and Newsstand. Apple has yet to confirm, or correct, this bug. Games and Newsstand titles in the App Store are listed on a main screen, and then broken down into numerous subcategories. Under Games, for example, you’ll see family, racing, and simulation. Under Newsstand, there are Crafts & Hobbies, History, and Sports & Leisure, among other listings. On each of these subcategory pages, you should also see sections entitled “New” and “What’s Hot,” followed by a “See All” link for each. Right now, games and Newsstand titles are not listed on most of these subcategory pages. When they are listed, the number of titles is limited, at best. This problem is affecting the App Store, regardless of the platform. We thank reader Tom for bringing this to our attention. When we hear more, or find that the problem is resolved, we’ll be updating this post.
