The Super Bowl Ad Apple Doesn’t Want You To See

January 29, 2014
Everyone remembers “1984,” the iconic Apple ad that aired during Super Bowl XVIII. One year later, Cupertino released another ad during the big game. Unlike “1984,” this ad was disaster. “Lemmings” launched Macintosh Office. It featured a long line of dust-covered, blindfolded business people walking towards a cliff, which all but one fall over. The last person in the line stops, uncovers his eyes, and takes in the situation, as the announcer says "you can look into it.” A second line of people is then shown, as the announcer continues, "or you can go on with business as usual.” Take a look: http://youtu.be/9V8_5gXdM-o People hated the ad, and for good reason. Its name refers to a myth that holds that lemmings periodically commit mass suicide. Due to the controversy, Apple didn’t release another Super Bowl ad until “Hal” in 1999. What is your favorite Apple ad of all time?
