Today’s Apps Gone Free: Parker Planner, Literacy Leveler, Random Runners And More

March 3, 2014

Organize your life with Parker Planner. We also have an app that allows you to level children’s books, and a runner starring the crew from Random Heroes.

All app prices are subject to change at any time and without notice regardless of stated free duration. Price changes are solely under the control of the developers.

iPhone:

Parker Planner ($2.99 → Free, 4.0 MB): An all-in-one life organizer.

The app's main view allows you to see upcoming events for the day, any notes and ideas you may have, and any tasks you need to complete all at once. You're also able to view each of the three separately. Tap once on an open spot on your calendar to add an event or tap twice to add more details. The app syncs with your iPhone's built-in calendar or any of the other popular online options. It also includes multiple themes to choose from, icon badging, and sound effects. Parker Planner is available for free for a limited time. It has a 4-star rating with a total of 108 ratings.

Universal:

The Blackhole ($0.99 → Free, 37.6 MB): This puzzle game puts the entire galaxy into the palm of your hand.

You’re put in control of a single black hole. As the colorful orbs go streaming across the galaxy, they will be pulled towards the black hole and attach to the event horizon. It’s your job to rotate the orbs by sliding your finger across the screen in order to create matches of three or more and shed the orbs. If any of the orbs touch the outer ring, it’s game over. The Blackhole includes three modes, power-ups, the option to use touch or tilt controls, and achievements and leaderboards via Game Center. The Blackhole is available for free for a limited time. It has a 4.5-star rating with a total of 236 ratings.

iExit Interstate Exit Guide ($0.99 → Free, 33.1 MB): Find out what’s at upcoming exits with this travel app.

iExit is able to detect where you are on the highway and what’s at the upcoming exits in real time. You’re able to view all of the businesses, amenities, rest stops, hotels, and more in map or list form. iExit will even provide you with directions on how to get to your chosen destination. Want to plan ahead? No problem, iExit allows you to search the next 100 exits for your favorite businesses. The app also includes the ability to view exits ahead and behind your closest exit, and save your favorite places for quick access. iExit Interstate Exit Guide is available for free for a limited time. It has a 4.5-star rating with a total of 1150 ratings.

Literacy Leveler ($4.99 → Free, 1.4 MB): Level children’s books in your collection and discover new books with appropriate reading levels with Literacy Leveler.

All you have to do is scan a book’s ISBN using your iDevice’s camera and Literacy Leveler will pick up its Lexile, DRA, and Guided Reading levels. You’re then able to add the book to your personal library. You’re also able to search for books by title, author, or level. There’s a handy correlation chart available as well. The database focuses on grades K through eight. Literacy Leveler is available for free for a limited time. It has a 4-star rating with a total of 9 ratings.

Random Runners ($0.99 → Free, 34.1 MB): The Random Heroes crew is back for another adventure in this runner.

You get to play as one of the misfits from the Random Heroes crew and go running, jumping, and sliding through 45 levels. Your character is also equipped with a weapon, which you can use to take out enemies in front of you instead of trying to avoid them. The coins you collect from your runs can be used to unlock new characters with different abilities and more powerful weapons. The game includes three worlds, 45 regular levels, an endless mode, 26 characters and 11 weapons to unlock, and achievements and leaderboards via Game Center. Random Runners is available for free for a limited time. It has a 3.5-star rating with a total of 91 ratings.

Snipbase - Fast & beautiful shopping lists ($0.99 → Free, 46.6 MB): Craft visual grocery shopping lists with Snipbase.

You’re able to add items to your list via Snipbase’s smart, predictive search. Just type the first letter and you’ll be provided with matching results. All of the results are presented as images, which can also include notes. If something’s not in the database, go ahead and add it by snapping your own photo or importing one from your library. This ability also allows you to create more than just grocery shopping lists, like wish and gift lists. The app also includes recent and popular products, and the ability to backup, share, and sync lists. Snipbase - Fast & beautiful shopping lists is available for free for a limited time. It has a 3.5-star rating with a total of 31 ratings.

FNotes: new style notes with its minimalistic design and Dropbox integration ($1.99 → Free, 2.7 MB): This productivity app provides you with an elegant and easy way to save your thoughts.

Your notes can include as much or as little text as necessary. Each note is automatically timestamped for convenience, and can be favorited or password protected. Notes can be edited at any time and synced with your Dropbox account. The app also includes landscape support, search, 12themes, 12 fonts, and the ability to share your notes via Facebook, Twitter, AirDrop, Messages, or email.
