Celebrate ‘Star Wars Day’ with these iTunes titles and learn about the new characters in 'Star Wars: The Force Awakens'
This is turning out to be a huge year for Star Wars fans.
In December, “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” arrives in theaters, the first new Star Wars film in a decade. Last month, the first six films in the Star Wars saga arrived on high-definition digital download for the very first time. And, of course, there are plenty of Star Wars games available on the App Store.
To celebrate this “Star Wars Day,” we offer this special AppAdvice Need Now List.
Films
The brand new, HD collection of George Lucas’s six-movie “Star Wars” series, marketed as “Star Wars: The Digital Movie Collection,” is available to download on the iTunes Store. The collection features all of the current films from the series, plus a number of extras. The collection is priced at $99.99. Individually, the films are $19.99 each.
Do buy: “Star Wars: A New Hope” and “Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back.”
Skip: “Star Wars: The Phantom Menace.”
Games
There are a lot of Star Wars games on the App Store. The best include Disney’s Star Wars: Commander and Warner Bros.’ LEGO Star Wars: The Complete Saga. You’ll also enjoy Angry Birds Star Wars and Angry Birds Star Wars II.
Star Wars Pinball 3 and Star Wars Scene Maker are also notable.
TV series
All six seasons of Lucasfilm Animation’s “Star Wars: The Clone Wars” are available on iTunes. Each season is priced at $29.99.
Books
Finally, be sure to take a look at “The Making of Star Wars (Enhanced Edition),” “The Making of The Empire Strikes Back (Enhanced Edition), and “The Making of Return of the Jedi (Enhanced Edition).” Each book is priced at $12.99. These special edition e-books include videos.
