You might be the best gardener in the world with your trees, flowers, and vegetables. But, when it comes to just planting onions, this game will test your skills. A Game of Onions challenges you to plant where you should, avoid where you shouldn’t, and only pick up those tools that help you.

How to play

A Game of Onions provides an interesting puzzle challenge. Tap to place your onions next to other healthy, green plants and avoid holes next to the dead, brown ones. The quicker you plant, and do so correctly, the higher your score will go. Continue through each level by planting successfully before losing your five lives, well, onions.

Pick up the tools from the “good” list along your way like multipliers while staying away from bad things like rocks and worms. A Game of Onions has Game Center support with a leaderboard for the most talented gardeners and nine achievements for those who like a challenge.

A Game of OnionsOverall thoughts

A Game of Onions is an easy game to understand once you begin playing. There is an instructional section on how to play that seems a little lengthy at first. But, don’t let that discourage you because gameplay is simple and the levels get more challenging as you advance. The tools on the “good” list that are not multipliers, like shovels and rakes, actually reduce your score, which is a bit confusing. However, for a light, upbeat puzzle, A Game of Onions is a good option.

A Game of Onions is designed for iPhone and available for free on the App Store.
