Stringify your life by taking control and automating tasks
Wouldn’t it be great if every night when it’s time for your kids to go to bed, your living room lamp would blink, their bedroom lamps would dim, and a timer would turn their lights off completely after 20 minutes? Or, wouldn’t you love to have a product title and link from a shopping site that falls into your search criteria be sent to a spreadsheet automatically for you? Say hello to Stringify, an app that lets you create Flows for both physical and digital tasks like these with ease.
Stringify Things
In the app, Things are the items you use to create your Flows. Things can include both physical and digital items. For your home, the app works with LIFX Color, Nest Thermostat, Philips Hue, Sonos, and more. Stringify also works with Fitbit, Jawbone UP, Homeboy, and many other physical tools.
Jumping over to digital Things, you can use Box, Craigslist, Evernote, Google Drive, Twitter, and many other apps. This also includes your phone’s location, weather, email, and notifications.
Stringify Flows
You can set up several Flows that are each configurable with triggers and actions. For instance, say you want your Nest temperature in the house to be set to 70 degrees when the outside temperature falls to 50 degrees. For another example, say you want to receive a push notification whenever a new article in the technology section is added to The New York Times.
To set up your Flows, you start by selecting your Things. You will put them on a blank canvas in the order they should take place, configure each one’s trigger or action, connect them by sliding your finger from one to the next, and then activate your flow.
Making life easier
Very similar in concept to the IFFFT apps like IF, Stringify makes ordinary tasks simple and automatic. And, the fact that it works with both physical and digital items makes it a wonderfully, useful app. Aside from creating your own, you can check out Flow ideas provided by Stringify, save them, and edit them to suit your needs which is handy for getting started.
Stringify is compatible with iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch. It is available for free on the App Store with no in-app purchases. In other news today, check out Create great social graphics on the go with Adobe Post or If you can think it, you can create it in Scribblenauts Unlimited.
