Bizarre App of the Week: Blobfish Evolution
A couple of weeks ago, we decided to start bringing you an unusual app every week. So far, we have seen the strange story of a waterbong in Planet of the Squirrels and an entertaining way to pass the minutes in the bathroom with Toilet Time. This week we are taking you deep under water with a game that may just give you the creeps in a “what in the world is that thing” sort of way.
Blobfish Evolution
What is it?
Blobfish Evolution is an interesting game where you will evolve your extremely odd fish-like creature by eating the others that surround it. In each level, you must consume a specific number of these strange-looking fish things in order to evolve, mutate, and move on. You just tap to attack and then tap again to swallow them up or suck them in, whatever the case may be.
What makes it bizarre?
The mutations created in Blobfish Evolution are only part of the weirdness of this game. The other part comes in with the ways the creature consumes the others. These disturbing characters are sort of a combination of a human and a fish…I think. And, the Blobfish “eats” the other fish by using his mouth at first, which is pretty normal. However, as your mutation grows it will consume the others in very weird ways. For instance, it will start sucking them up between its “legs.” Yuck.
Is it worth a look?
For the grotesque creatures alone, you may want to take a peek at Blobfish Evolution. And, if it turns out to be your cup of tea, see how large you can grow your Blobfish and how much it will evolve. If you do not have the patience to wait for more fish things to pop up at feeding time, you can view an ad or short video to quickly obtain more. There are multiple levels and although I am still at number four, I cannot wait to see what the upcoming boss battles will bring.
Blobfish Evolution is designed for iPhone and iPad. It is ad-supported and available for free on the App Store with an in-app purchase for the premium version at $0.99.
If you are into unusual evolution games, you might like to try your hand at mutating some animals. Hamster Evolution Party and Chicken Evolution, both available for free, will have you creating some odd creatures, although I don’t think anything could be as bizarre as those in Blobfish Evolution.
