Avoid Data Overages With YouTube Go App

App-dicted
September 27, 2016

Hardcore YouTube users have probably faced a large data bill at one point. That could soon change thanks to a new app currently in development at Google.

YouTube Go is designed to minimize mobile data usage by offering you some simple tools currently missing from the standard YouTube app. These include an offline mode that allows you to download videos overnight and a preview mode that shows an animated GIF when you first click on a link, rather than the video itself.

The new app also shows how much data would be consumed when watching a video, depending on the resolution you select. You can also decide whether to share a video with a nearby friend directly from your device or through Bluetooth.

Google is first launching YouTube Go in India, although it’s expected to roll out to other locations too, including the United States and Europe.
