Pokémon Go Makes Its Way to the United Kingdom, Germany

The free game heads to Europe

July 14, 2016

The hyper-popular Pokémon Go is now available in the United Kingdom. This follows the game’s release in Germany the day before. The freemium Pokémon Go, which arrived in Australia, New Zealand, and the United States one week ago, is already the most successful mobile game of all time.

Co-developed by the Pokémon Company and Google’s Niantic, the augmented reality game encourages you to visit real world locations to catch digital Pokémon. Once you reach your location, you wave your phone camera over the area until the animated Pokémon appears. You catch the Pokémon by throwing an animated Pokéball. You can also visit Pokéstops to stock up on some items on your journey. In-app purchases make the journey easier.

A security risk threatened to derail Pokémon Go as soon as it launched. However, two quick software updates resolved the issue.

You can download Pokémon Go on the App Store.
