As we live, we are going to have a lot of people be involved in our lives. Family, friends, and the significant other — that’s a lot of people to keep track of for their special day! While it’s ideal to remember everyone’s birthday without any help whatsoever, it’s just not practical with all of the other stuff that we are sure to deal with on a daily basis. You know what they say — time just flies by. Fortunately, there are apps that help you out with this (thank goodness for technology, right?).
Birthdays is a sleek little app to help you keep track of everyone’s special day. The app itself is very minimal and simple, providing users only the necessary information they need — the days for everyone’s birthday. The app places focus on the day, and the person, as any birthday app should.
When you first launch the app, you will be asked to import birthdays of the people you want to remember. There are two ways of doing this: you can either import directly from your address book, or you can pull the data from Facebook. You can also merge both sources together if you want. Birthdays will ask you to select individuals to add, or you can just tap on the circle at the top to select/unselect everyone.
Once you have added people, you will essentially get a list of birthdays on the main screen in chronological order from today. Each person will get their own rectangle, complete with name and profile photo, and their birthday in large font.
Of course, what good is a birthday app if you can’t do anything from it? Birthdays allows users to tap on individuals to bring up a screen with several options for making sure you give the person a birthday greeting. You can give them a call, send them an SMS or email, or write a friendly message on Facebook or Twitter.
If it’s still too early for that birthday, you can set a reminder for later. The reminders can be set for one, three, six, or 10 hours from now. By default, Birthdays will alert you on the day of for each birthday, at a specific time that can be changed in the app’s settings. You can also toggle the reminders on or off, depending on how many birthdays you have added to the app.
If you tap on the hamburger button in the top left, you will reveal the slide out side panel navigational menu. From here, you can view the birthdays from the past 30 days, or even just the next 30 days. You can also filter out by each month, and the app will provide a nice number count of all birthdays in each month, in case you wanted to know.
If you’re looking for a simple app to help you keep track of everyone’s birthday, then this is another option to consider. It would have been nice if you could keep notes of gift ideas in the app as well, instead of having to use another app for that.
