Silk Vault Slim Wallet iPhone 7 Wallet Case

We picked the Silk Vault iPhone 7 Wallet Case because the look and feel are head and shoulders better than any other wallet case we’ve tested. It’s very lightweight and it holds up to three cards plus cash, enough for many people – including many of our team members here at GearAdvice. The company’s use of materials makes the case both very durable and lightweight.

What makes a great iPhone Wallet Case?

A great wallet case should be well crafted, and feel like something you would consider replacing your everyday wallet with. It needs to be able to carry a few credit or debit cards along with your license or identification card. It should also look nice, and be made of a durable material that can stand up to abuse.

  • Made with quality materials.
  • Grippy and lightweight.
  • Slim and has plenty of space for multiple cards and money.

Why the Silk Vault iPhone 7 Wallet Case is the best?

Silk’s Vault Slim Wallet Case uses a soft, rubbery material that is grippy but also lightweight. It has one big slot, enough to hold up to three cards as well as cash. It also has what Silk is calling a “reinforced ribbed substructure” which disperses shocks around and away from your phone in the event that you drop it. It’s well-crafted with easy access to the Lightning ports and buttons and it comes with a free screen protector. All these things combined make this our favorite wallet case to date.

Our experience with the Silk Vault iPhone 7 Wallet Case

Wallet cases are an interesting product. You don’t see that many of them, but when you ask someone if they like their choice you often hear how they can’t imagine going back to a regular case. The biggest reason, of course, is that for many people the wallet case replaces, well, their wallet.

The Silk Vault case.

The Silk Vault case.

I’ve used and tested my fair share of wallet cases in the past and in my experience, so many of them feel more like a wallet and less like a phone case, ignoring the important, even necessary features that make an iPhone case good like easy access to the volume and sleep/wake buttons.

Speaking of the back, it’s flat, which means you can rest your iPhone on a table or flat surface and not worry about it rocking. The back also extends further than the camera bump which means there’s an even lower chance your camera will get damaged.

What I love about the Silk Vault is that it's the perfect marriage between being a wallet case and being a protective case.

When it comes to storage, Silk says the Vault is capable of holding up to three cards plus some cash in the small slot located on the backside. I’ve actually found that I can fit four cards plus a twenty. At first, I was worried that the cards might fall out, but the hold the case keeps on the cards nice and secure.

You can easily fit more than a few cards in the Vault

Access to the buttons and ports is great, too. On the bottom, there are three cutouts, two for the speakers and one for the Lightning port, which are big enough to allow access for many third-party Lightning cables.

Moving to the sides of the case, you’ll find two thin strips of a grippable material to aid in holding the phone. You’ll also find buttons for volume control as well as a cutout for the Mute switch. The buttons work as you’d expect them to and you can feel them easily with your fingers in nearly the same way you would on an iPhone without a case. Again, this attention to detail is one of those things that so many case manufacturers ignore. In fact, it’s not uncommon to see many manufacturers just cut around the buttons because they can’t get them right. Not Silk. They nailed it here.

It's hard to knock this case for much.

It’s hard to knock this case for much. I do wish it came in more colors, perhaps like a red or something brighter than the four somewhat darker shades. I’m being picky, but I also wish there was a way to make it tad thinner. At just over 12mm thick, you definitely notice there is a case on your phone. But then again, there’s also a wallet, so I get it.

Other than that, I enjoy this case a lot. It’s simple, functional, protective and it’s actually pretty cheap. For all those reasons, this case is without question the best iPhone wallet case I’ve ever used.
