This is one webcam that’s hard to beat. As you could probably tell by the name, Space Station Live will show you live video of the Earth as it looks from the ISS in orbit.

High above the clouds. You'll be able to view some breathtaking scenery of our planet live from the International Space Station.

High above the clouds

What is it about?

There are one of four different camera angles that may be showing - one forward, one down, and two looking back. The app also includes direct access to the NASA TV public feed so you can view other information about spaces like live launches and landings. You’ll even be able to view detailed information about the ISS crew and how long they have been ins space. Just to note, the ISS only spends half of its time in the light, so you might have to be patient to see a spectacular view.

For those who...

  • Want to see how the Earth's surface looks in real-time.
  • Looking for a beautiful and breathtaking way to explore our planet

Not for those who...

  • Are more interested in what is happening on planet Earth.
  • You're not all that patient and want to see live video immediately.

Why we love it

The view from the High Definition Earth-Viewing system is simply mesmerizing. It looks beautiful on the Apple TV, and just for a moment might make you think you're on the ISS.

App Store Description

Watch live video of the Earth from space with NASA's feed from the International Space Station.

NOTE: The International Space Station spends half its time in sunlight and the other half in the dark, about 45 minutes each. If you see a black screen when watching live HDEV video, it usually means that the ISS is on the night side of the Earth.

The High Definition Earth-Viewing (HDEV) system cycles among four possible camera angles: one forward, one down, and two looking back.

If the image is black, it usually means the ISS is on the night side of the Earth. A gray image means the feed is switching between cameras or communication with the ISS is not available.

From the main screen, learn about the current space station crew members.

The app also includes the NASA TV Public feed for additional NASA programming, including live launches and landings.
