Books Overtake Games As The App Store's #1 Category
Here is some news that will most likely help some younger users out there sell their parents on the iPhone OS ecosystem. Mobclix is reporting today that Books just overtook Games as the number one category in terms of number of available apps in the App Store, a first since its launch.
Books, as you might remember, has actually been the fastest growing category of apps since last summer, and with more publishers seeing the potential of the iPhone as an e-reader, it didn't take them long to surpass games, which are understandably, more expensive and take longer to develop.
While the iPhone might still be seen as a quite inconvenient platform for eBook reading, this is definitely great news for Apple and the upcoming iPad.
