Free Version Of SoundHound Now Available For iPhone And iPad
April 27, 2010
For the longest time Shazam has had a leg up on SoundHound due to the fact that at least one version of Shazam has been available in the App Store for free since its inception in 2008, but that has all changed today. A free version of SoundHound is now available in the App Store, allowing you to see just how fast and accurate this popular music identifier is without having to spend a single penny.
The free version of SoundHound provides iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad users with all of the same features as the premium version, but it limits you to five music, sing, or hum IDs per month. It also features some ads, so if that's something you can't live with, you may want to consider a purchase anyway.
You can check to see just how many songs you have identified during the month via the upgrade button. An ID is used up only if SoundHound is actually able to identify a song, which is most of the time.
If you run out of IDs during your one month period you can obtain more via in-app purchase. A five pack of IDs will set you back $.99, or you can upgrade to the full version of SoundHound, which features unlimited IDs, for the usual $4.99. Any form of in-app purchase, including the five pack of IDs, will remove ads from the app for as long as you have it.
If you have been waiting to give SoundHound a try on your iDevice, there is no better time than the present.
