New iOS 4 Mail Features: Track Shipments And Create Events

June 19, 2010

Aside from implementing a unified inbox in your iPhone's Mail app, Apple's upcoming iOS 4 software update plans to change a few other things, too. Namely, the ability to track shipments and create events through Safari all from an email (see screenshot above), in the same fashion as the touch-to-call and touch-to-mail features we already benefit from when a phone number or email address is displayed on your iPhone. If you ask me, this is going to be pretty handy. I love it when I search for a restaurant in Safari on my iPhone, find the address, and then just touch the address to open the location Maps. It's great. And now Apple have rightly expanded this feature to work with shipments and events - making the device itself all the more unified. Another nifty improvement made in the update is the tab animation when you open Safari through a link (such as a tracking number). A demo of this can be seen below.
