O2 UK: iPhone 4 Reserved Until End Of July For Current Customers

The original UK iPhone network, O2, have announced that Apple's upcoming iPhone 4 will only be available for existing O2 customers at launch due to "extremely limited" stock.
Here's what O2 have said on their site:
iPhone stock will be extremely limited in the UK at launch and not everybody who wants one will be able to get one straight away. We want to make sure that our existing customers get priority so until at least the end of July, only existing O2 customers will be able to get an iPhone 4 from us. Whether you're an existing O2 mobile customer looking to upgrade, or one of our broadband customers looking to move your mobile to O2, our iPhone stock is reserved exclusively for you. This is great news for current O2 customers who have maybe owned previous iPhone models on the O2 network, but it's also pretty disastrous for prospective non-O2 customers, who'll now have to wait at least until the end of July before purchasing a new iPhone on O2. It seems that Apple didn't anticipate the mass interest that the iPhone 4 has generated. Either that, or they did anticipate it, but couldn't produce enough handsets in time for launch. As of this moment in time, no other UK carrier apart from O2 has vowed to reserve the iPhone 4 for current customers only. However we will be updating this article if any other networks change their minds. So keep checking back - and let us know what you think about O2's plans for iPhone reservation in the comments box below!
