I think it's pretty fair to say the Android-only tool, Google Goggles, is pretty awesome. In fact, it's more than awesome - it's amazing. Amazingly awesome. Indeed, the only thing that put me off Goggles was that it was an Android-only feature, and that iPhone users sadly had to make do with the Google Mobile App.
However, I'm very glad to report that things are set to change. According to a recent article by The Register, Google Goggles is iPhone-bound, and fanboys can expect the visual search technology to appear on the iOS platform later this year.
David Petrou, a Google staff engineer working on Google Goggles, told a Hot Chips audience at Stanford University:
We're working on an iPhone version, and hope to have it out by the end of the year.So there's no room for speculation. Google will be releasing Goggles for iPhone, and it will be amazing. We'll be posting as soon as we hear more, and (obviously) when Goggles hits the App Store. We're expecting it to be free, much like all of Google's other iOS applications. In other Google news, the popular Google Mobile App received an interesting update yesterday. Read this to find out more!
