Battery Go! Plus Arrives Fully Charged In The App Store For iPhone, iPod Touch And iPad

August 27, 2010
The team over at CollegeKidApp.com, now 9magnets, have been working long and hard to bring iDevice users a successor to their hit, original iOS app, Battery Go!. The just-released Battery Go! Plus builds upon that basic concept in every way to create a true battery management tool. The new Battery Health Manager not only provides some visual customization, but it helps the new estimation formula perform even more accurately. All meters, even Apple's built-in battery gauge, are simply best calculated estimates, but Battery Go! Plus' revamped algorithm uses more factors to provide the best estimate possible. Visual customization includes two UI themes, steel and doodle, plus five color choices: blue, red, orange, purple, and green. Unfortunately, the iPad doesn't seem to offer the doodle theme, at least as of now. The primary section provides up to fifteen different tasks, including using your iDevice as a music player, portable gaming handheld, eReader, video player, telephone, navigation assistant, and browsing the Internet. A full list is nice, but on the iPhone and iPod touch, Battery Go! Plus goes beyond just showing you about how long you can perform a given activity. By swiping left and right, you can navigate to broken down categories. These categories show the same estimates as the full list, but also provide a brief description of why these tasks use up your battery along with a couple quick tips. Obviously, the entire concept of monitoring your battery level as specifically as Battery Go! Plus does is because you want to squeeze every second you can from your iDevice, right? On the iPhone and iPod touch, a single tap at any time on the main UI will show current battery level and selected battery level at the top, with a navigation menu at bottom. I've already talked about the Battery Health Manager, but you will also notice a Battery Saving Tips section. As before, this section is nicely broken down into categories. Also as before, you'll get nice brief descriptions, but this time you'll get instructions on where to go to actually combat these possibly unnecessary drains. This section doesn't appear to be included on the iPad, at least not on our initial Wi-Fi iPad tests. However, my guess is these will be added in later. Battery Go! Plus is a universal app designed for iPhone, iPod touch and iPad, and available now in the App Store at an introductory price of only $.99. [gallery link="file" columns="4"]
