Android Grows, But iOS Still Reigns Supreme

September 26, 2010
Android is growing in the corporate market. As Engadget reports, Google saw it's mobile OS grow its market share from 10% to 16% between May and August this year. However, Apple's very popular iOS also grew from 30% (in spring) to 31% (in summer). As of August 2010, iOS is installed on 31% of smartphones within the corporate market. Unsurprisingly, these figures come at the expense of rival mobile operating systems: BlackBerry OS, Windows Mobile, and Palm OS. All three suffered a loss of market share during this time frame, handing over a slice of their presence to the Android and iOS platforms.

Interestingly, Android's share of the corporate market has grown from 3% to 16% in just under a year. This highlights the gradual demise of BlackBerry OS and proves iPhone and Android based smartphones can work in the business world.

Regardless of this, Apple's iOS still reigns supreme over Android, Windows Mobile, and Palm OS. And, while I don't think iPhones will ever overtake BlackBerry devices in the corporate world, I can see the BlackBerry OS losing a lot more users in the coming years.
