Chronic Dev Team Releases Greenpois0n For Mac!

October 17, 2010
Great news, Mac OS X fans: the Chronic Dev Team has just released greenpois0n for Mac, the jailbreak tool which promises to jailbreak your iOS 4.1-running iDevice with ease. The news comes following what has been a pretty heavy week of jailbreak action. First off, geohot returned from nowhere and released limera1in (another iOS 4.1 jailbreak tool) just over a week ago, which was initially Windows only. Then, the Chronic Dev Team released its anticipated Windows-only version of greenpois0n - a similar jailbreak tool. Mac OS X users were then given a Mac version of limera1n, which went live a few days ago. Then yesterday, the Dev-Team released its own Mac OS X version of greenpois0n. Both jailbreak tools take advantage of the same exploit, which was discovered by geohot. Following the release of geohot's limera1n, the Chronic Dev Team fixed greenpois0n to take advantage of geohot's exploit, instead of the exploit initially discovered by the Chronic Dev Team. Effectively, this puts the Chronic Dev Team one step ahead of Apple, as it now has an unknown exploit ready to implement when necessary. As always, be extremely careful when jailbreaking - and remember, it voids your iDevice's warranty (though a quick iTunes restore can remove detectable traces of a jailbreak). You can find greenpois0n here, and limera1n here. Both sites include links for Windows and Mac OS X. And, thanks to 9to5Mac for spotting this!
